NZQA suppresses grade rates for low-cohort standards.
This standard asks you to use drawing techniques—like sketches, compositional notes, and photographs—to show you understand how photography works as an art form. You need to arrange visual elements (line, shape, colour, tone, etc.) and apply design principles (balance, rhythm, contrast, etc.) in your photography work to demonstrate knowledge of photography conventions (its rules, characteristics, and how it's used in art).
You use basic drawing and photographic techniques to show general knowledge of photography conventions, with work that demonstrates understanding of visual elements and some design principles.
You select and use specific photographic techniques and drawing methods on purpose, showing that you understand particular conventions of photography and how to apply them for a clear intention in your work.
You critically select and use advanced photographic and drawing techniques with clear intention, showing sophisticated, in-depth understanding of photography conventions and how to apply them strategically to achieve your artistic goals.
