Demonstrate understanding of a variety of extended written and/or visual Spanish texts
You need to read and understand longer Spanish texts (articles, essays, visual materials) and explain what they mean. You'll answer questions that ask you to identify key information, explain ideas, and draw conclusions—not just translate words, but show you actually understand what the text is saying and what it implies.
You understand the general meaning of the text, identify key vocabulary and some important points, and give relevant information with some supporting details from the text—though you might mix in one or two inaccurate details.
You understand the content clearly, give detailed responses that directly answer each part of the question, and support your answers with specific evidence from the text that you've selected and connected thoughtfully.
You show comprehensive understanding of the text including layers of meaning and nuance that aren't stated outright, respond fully to each part of the question using all relevant details as evidence, and draw justified conclusions that show you've understood the implications of what the text says.
