Implement complex procedures using textile materials to make a specified product
This is a hands-on, internally assessed standard where Year 13 students actually make a textile product — something like a garment, bag, or other sewn item. You plan out how to build it, practise techniques, test your work along the way, and produce a finished product that matches agreed-upon specifications. The 'complex' part means your project must involve at least two genuinely tricky techniques, such as sewing different fabric types together, adding structure with interfacing or boning, working with difficult fabrics like satin or fine knits, or including features like pockets, openings, or closures.
You carry out the required complex techniques and produce a finished product that matches the specifications and style. You trial techniques, follow a construction order, do appropriate tests, and work safely.
On top of meeting all the Achieved requirements, you show independence and accuracy throughout — your techniques, tests, and processes are applied with skill and precision, with minimal errors or need for guidance.
On top of Merit, you work in a way that saves time, effort, and materials. Your whole process is efficient — you plan well, avoid unnecessary waste or rework, and the quality of your finished product reflects a streamlined, well-managed approach.
