Demonstrate understanding of a variety of extended written and/or visual French texts
This achievement standard asks you to read three extended French texts and show you understand what they mean. You'll answer questions about them in English, French, or te reo Māori. To do well, you need to understand not just the basic facts, but also the more complex vocabulary, grammar, and subtle meanings buried in the texts.
You summarise the main ideas from the texts clearly and show you understand the basic vocabulary and overall meaning, even if you miss some finer details or more difficult words.
You use concrete examples from the texts to back up your points, organise your response logically, explain different viewpoints, and give your own perspective with evidence—showing you've grasped more complex language and details.
You produce highly detailed responses that closely match what the text says, understand subtle grammar and vocabulary nuances, structure your thoughts with exceptional clarity, and persuasively argue your viewpoint using detailed textual evidence while weighing up different perspectives.
