Demonstrate understanding of spoken French related to everyday contexts
This standard tests whether you can listen to French conversations and texts about everyday situations—things like food, daily routines, sports, or what students do at school—and then prove you understand what you heard by answering questions in English (or te reo Māori). You'll need to pick out the main ideas and details from the spoken French, even if it's not perfect or there are bits you don't fully catch.
You identify the main ideas and context of the passages, show general understanding of the meaning, and give short answers without adding unrelated details.
You select and connect specific details from the passages (like noticing intensifiers or tense differences), support your answers directly from what you heard, and show clear understanding of the overall meaning with only minor errors.
You interpret the French precisely, explain how word choices and grammar affect meaning, respond fully to all parts of questions, distinguish between similar-sounding words accurately, and justify your conclusions about what you heard.
