Demonstrate understanding of usability in human-computer interfaces
This standard asks you to understand and analyse how well computer interfaces (like websites, apps, and software) are designed for people to use. You'll learn about usability principles—rules that make interfaces easy and effective—and apply them to real interfaces to see what works well and what could be improved.
You identify and describe 3–4 usability principles correctly in a real interface, clearly state which principle each feature relates to, and explain why considering usability matters when designing.
You explain how specific usability features work in an interface of your choice, link these features to their purpose, and show how they improve the user experience in practical scenarios.
You compare interfaces and point out key similarities and differences in how they use specific usability principles; you suggest improvements and clearly explain which principle each improvement addresses; you distinguish between similar concepts (like User Control vs Flexibility & Efficiency, or Error Prevention vs Error Recovery).
