Demonstrate understanding of chance and data
This standard asks you to understand probability and statistics well enough to make sense of data and chance in real situations. You'll work with graphs, tables, and statistical findings, and you need to understand how to interpret them correctly and spot when something might be misleading or poorly done.
- ·Read and interpret tables, graphs, and statistical reports correctly
- ·Analyse how data was collected and whether it's valid for the claims being made
- ·Calculate and explain probabilities in situations involving chance
- ·Evaluate whether statistical investigations are done well and reach fair conclusions
- ·Apply statistical thinking to real-world contexts and explain what the data tells you
You can read statistical displays and probability problems, and give answers that show you understand the basic concepts without major errors.
You justify your findings by pointing to specific evidence from the data, statistics, or probabilities—you explain *why* your answer makes sense.
