Conduct a critical social inquiry
Conduct a critical social inquiry
NZQA suppresses grade rates for low-cohort standards.
You'll design and carry out your own social studies investigation into a real issue, collecting information and evidence to answer research questions you've developed. You'll then explain different people's views and values on the topic, report what you found, and reflect honestly on whether your investigation method was sound and what you'd do differently next time.
You conduct a full social inquiry with clear research questions, gather information, explain different perspectives, report findings linked to your questions, and reflect on your inquiry process.
You go deeper by comparing and contrasting the different viewpoints and perspectives in detail, showing how they conflict or connect with each other.
You critically evaluate whether your findings are valid and significant, and you consider what the implications of your findings might be in other situations or contexts beyond your specific inquiry.
