Demonstrate understanding of a variety of written and/or visual Chinese text(s) on familiar matters
You need to read and understand Chinese texts (written articles, emails, advertisements, stories, etc.) on topics you already know about, and show what you've learned by answering questions about them in English, Te Reo Māori, or Chinese. You'll be marked on how well you prove you actually understood the meaning—not just translated words—and whether you can spot things that aren't directly stated in the text.
You show you understood the general gist of the text and can communicate some of the main meaning by answering the question with basic information from it.
You clearly understand the text and answer the question properly, selecting and explaining relevant details with good supporting evidence, even if you miss some of the deeper or implied meanings.
You show thorough understanding by identifying what the text implies or suggests (not just what it states), making logical conclusions, and supporting everything with detailed evidence from the text—your answer is comprehensive and precise.
